Over time, natural skin aging and exposure to UV radiation from the sun make superficial blood vessels visible and cause the skin to produce pockets of irregular pigmentation.
The ProLite II Intense Pulsed Light System by Quantel Medical uses interchangeable filters that selectively block out unwanted UV and blue radiation, safely delivering broadband light to target chromophores (melanin and hemoglobin) to treat conditions such as:
Light is applied to the treatment area using a 10x20 mm sapphire waveguide that can be fired every two seconds, allowing for treatment of large areas, such as whole faces, hands, necks and decolletes, shoulders and backs. Treating large areas not only addresses specific problem areas but also results in an overall improvement in skin texture, tone, pore size and collateral collagen building.
Treatments, which typically are provided in a series of sessions at two-week intervals, are painless. Patients can resume normal activities immediately. To maintain long-lasting improvement, follow-up care may include bi-annual maintenance sessions.
What patients are saying about Prolite™
"I used to get so red after my spin class people were worried about me. My mother has rosacea and I have watched her deal with the flushes and veins as they got worse over the years. I didn't want to end up in her shoes. My dermatologist suggested your office and the ProLite photofacial, telling me that it would make my skin healthier. I can't tell you how pleased I am. My skin is lovely and the red flushes are much less of a problem, I even forget how troublesome and embarrassing they used to be. My mother is so impressed she has made an appointment to start her treatments too."
What results can I expect?
You can expect a gradual decrease in the visibility of your skin's imperfections as your ProLite treatments progress. You will see smoother and more uniform skin, smaller pore size and fading of sun spots. Rosacea, a common vascular problem characterized by overall redness and flushing, will show especially significant improvement.
